PATHWAY

APPLICATIONS OPEN

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Introducing the Pathway, a full-year program running concurrently with high school classes to give students a head start in engineering, physics, space systems, and coding. The program will prepare students for STEM education at post-secondary institutions and propel them towards a career in the space industry.

With a mixture of lectures and lab activities, students will learn about various STEM topics throughout the year, from satellite design to software development. Lab activities will take place once a week, allowing students to apply their knowledge from the lectures.

Pulsar Pathway's small class size allows for a more personal learning experience for the students and ensures that no student is left in the dark when it comes to understanding the program's content. Alongside the lectures and labs, students will work on a major satellite project throughout the year that will enable them to apply everything they've learned. The structure of the project will also introduce students to the engineering development process.

At the end of the year, students' efforts will be on display for friends and family to see at the Pathway's Project Showcase, which will allow the students to present their projects to their peers, friends, and family.

LECTURES

In the lectures, students will learn about the science and engineering behind space systems. Some topics covered will be: a brief history of spaceflight, introduction to space systems, and satellite design and subsystems. Students will also learn about the mechanical, material, and environmental challenges when designing hardware and software for space.

LAB

While in the lab, students will apply the content learned in lectures through hands on experiments. During their time in the lab, students will be able to test electrical systems through kits and assignments, understand and familiarize themselves the mechanisms of the hardware used when creating satellites, as well as work towards the development of their own satellite.
